OzJet tickets finally on saleOzJet tickets are now on sale for their inaugural trans-Tasman crossing, reigniting interest in the airline as it begins its plans to rebuild the routes dropped by Freedom Air. As the plans currently lie, the ex-Sydney and ex-Brisbane services to Palmerston North will be serviced by a B737-700 in a two class configuration with 12 in Business and 112 in Economy. It is expected that a one-way economy lead-in fare will cost AUD199 and will include a full meal and international departure taxes. “We are hoping the community will get behind OzJet, particularly in the early stages as we have had just a few weeks to attract bookings to help launch the service,” said Willie O’Neill, OzJet CEO. Locals have looked forward to the services since announcement of possible services, and now Palmerston Mayor Jono Naylor states, “Ozjet has shown real faith in this area to begin a Trans-Tasman service. “They have handed us a real opportunity to market the lower North Island as a holiday destination. It's now over to us to make the most of it.” Mr Naylor adds, “People in surrounding areas will have easy access to flights to Australia, and local tourist operators will undoubtedly see an increase in the number of Australian visitors.” |
